• Pushtyartha Shradha – Families perform this Shradha for joy, protection, and betterment. It ensures no harm falls on the family and grants chances for progress in life. The act of serving meals and donations to the Brahmins on this day brings satisfaction to the ancestors, and they bless their future generations.

Donate the following things on this day

During Ashwin Amavasya, people offer sesame seeds (Shradha Karya). The departed souls of our ancestors are pacified with black sesame seeds. In Shradha Karya, we honor our forefathers, and when they feel appeased, they bless us with happiness.

• During this period, people consider it auspicious to donate cow milk and ghee to a poor or needy Brahmin to appease the ancestors.
• Giving grains is also a good action, either uncooked or cooked. It is Maha Daan to feed Brahmins and the poor. Our ancestors are content with such charity.
• People donate clothes even during these days. It is a belief that giving out clothes in the name of ancestors makes them happy.
• Giving fruits brings great benefits. Donate them for 16 days. If you cannot donate daily, offer fruits on Amavasya Tithi or on the death anniversary Tithi of your ancestors.
